Who Makes This Office Special?

Learn about the people who make our London office so special:

Judy Simpson

If you come to our London office with a workers’ compensation claim, case manager Judy Simpson is one of the most important people you’ll meet.

She’s been with Morgan, Collins, Yeast & Salyer for over 25 years, starting on April 1, 1993 — no joke. She remembers when the firm had two attorneys and four total employees.

“It’s changed tremendously since I started,” she says. But she’s worked with attorney McKinnley Morgan the whole time, and one thing has always stayed the same: “McKinnley’s always been about helping people. He always wanted to get our clients all the money, all the benefits, that they’re owed.”

Judy will help you with all of this:

  • Filing your workers’ comp claim with the Kentucky Department of Workers’ Claims
  • Scheduling your visits to an independent medical examiner
  • Gathering your medical records
  • Updating you on the status of your case
  • Answering your questions

No matter the size of your potential settlement, at Morgan, Collins, Yeast & Salyer, every case is important, Judy says.

She says McKinnley was a pioneer in cases involving injuries from cumulative trauma over time. He even goes to the Kentucky Legislature to fight for the rights of injured workers.

That’s what Judy calls “Kentucky Courage.”

Melanie Collins

Melanie Collins is a secretary in our London office. She has been with Morgan, Collins, Yeast & Salyer since September 2005.

As secretary, it’s Melissa’s job to schedule appointments for clients, make sure they get travel money for scheduled doctor appointments, send clients letters about their appointments, and call clients to make sure they keep their appointments.

Born and raised in Hyden, Melanie moved to London after high school and is proud to be a member of the community. “I enjoy what I do, the people I work with, and helping the people in the London area,” she says.

If you need help with a workers’ comp claim, personal injury case, or Social Security Disability claim, call our London office today for help.

Tabitha Swafford

Tabitha Swafford is a paralegal in our London office. She joined Morgan, Collins, Yeast & Salyer in October 2010. She started as a Social Security case manager, but is now a workers’ comp paralegal. She has a bachelor’s degree in paralegal science from Eastern Kentucky University.

In her role, Tabitha initially reviews judge’s opinions to look for errors and to see if the attorneys have a chance to take a client’s case to a higher court. She also helps with the initial drafts of briefs to Administrative Law Judges, the Workers’ Comp Board, the Kentucky Court of Appeals, and the Kentucky Supreme Court.

When Tabitha was looking for a job, she knew Morgan, Collins, Yeast & Salyer had a great reputation. Attorney McKinnley Morgan had helped her mom with a workers’ comp and Social Security Disability case, and attorney Roy Collins had handled a car accident case for her mother. “I really wanted to work for a firm that I knew had a passion for helping its clients,” she says. “So I knew Morgan, Collins, Yeast & Salyer was the perfect place.”

Tabitha is extremely proud of her hard work ethic. She learned it from her adoptive mother who “worked like no one else” she’d ever known until she was hurt on the job. “We were poor, but she did her best to provide for me and made sure I had a roof over my head and food on the table,” she says. “I was raised to work, and not only work, but to do my best and try my hardest at everything I do.”

“When I leave work at the end of the day, I can at least say I’ve done my best for our clients,” she says. “I’m a proud Eastern Kentuckian, and I’m happy to help the people in our area to the best of my ability – whether I’m on the clock or not.”

Tabitha exemplifies Kentucky Courage. If you need help with a workers’ comp, Social Security Disability, or personal injury case, call on Tabitha’s Kentucky Courage for help.

Help with Car Accident Claims in London

Car accident cases quickly become very complicated and accident victims often don’t understand how to overcome those challenges. Studies have shown that accident victims receive more compensation when they are represented by an attorney.

An attorney will do so much during your car accident claim, including:

  • Communicating with the insurance company, whether it is yours or the other driver’s
  • Conducting a full investigation of the accident
  • Gathering evidence to prove liability and damages
  • Organizing medical bills and records
  • Communicating with healthcare providers
  • Work with your doctors to obtain the necessary medical information to prove your claim
  • Present the evidence in a way that proves liability
  • Negotiate effectively with the other side for a fair settlement
  • Take the case to trial if necessary

Our personal injury attorneys are ready to handle your entire claim from beginning to end so you can focus on getting better.

Help with Workers’ Compensation Claims in London

When people are hurt at work, they are usually entitled to workers’ compensation benefits. Injured workers often think that because they have the right to these benefits and their employer has insurance for it, this compensation is easy to obtain. That unfortunately is not always the case.

Insurance companies – even those that provide workers’ compensation – don’t want to pay out on claims because it reduces their total profits. Our workers’ compensation attorneys in London can work to ensure this does not happen by:

  • Gathering medical records to prove your claim
  • Arranging and recommending treatment with the appropriate doctors
  • Obtaining medical opinions from doctors who treat you and through an independent medical examination
  • Assisting you with your deposition if you are asked to appear at one
  • Conducting depositions of medical experts
  • Establishing the extent of your injuries and the resulting limitations
  • Determining whether your employer owes you for temporary disability benefits or penalties for late payments
  • Refuting claims from your employer that the accident did not happen at work, that you were an independent contractor, or that you somehow didn’t qualify for benefits
  • Preparing you for and representing you in a workers’ compensation hearing

Help with Social Security Disability Claims in London

If you have become injured or ill and are unable to return to work, you may be eligible for Social Security Disability (SSD) benefits. The Social Security Administration, however, denies more claims than it approves every year. Many of these initially denied claims go on to be approved through the appeals process.

There are many ways an attorney can help with this process, including:

  • Helping you understand the application process
  • Gathering evidence and documentation
  • Obtaining medical records to prove your injury
  • Acting as your advocate
  • Handling your denial and appeal, if necessary
  • Preparing you for and representing you during a disability hearing

Where Our London Law Office Is Located

Located in the renovated home of the Mayes family, the London office of Morgan, Collins and Yeast handles most of the firm’s workers’ compensation cases.

Our London office is very conveniently located on Main Street in London. It’s also near Levi Jackson State Park, Laurel Lake, the Wildcat Battlefield Site, and the Colonel Sanders Café and Museum.

One of our London office’s biggest community events is its annual fish fry. The fish fry takes place every year at Twin Branch Church, and all of the proceeds go to the preservation of the church, which was constructed in 1867. We also regularly donate to the Optimist Club for youth sports in the community.
